PERSONAL SUMMARY
Growing up in Dallas and later moving to Boston helped me gain perspective on two different cultures that sparked many interests. I developed my passion for sports in Dallas while playing soccer and baseball. Sports quickly became a large part of my identity and everyday life.
Eventually, my interest grew beyond my love for just playing sports; I wanted to understand and learn more about the different aspects of the industry, such as sports management, finance, marketing and media.
The transition from Dallas to Boston presented me with some compelling opportunities that prompted me to realign my future commitments. Leadership development and academic achievement took priority as I began realizing the importance of doing well in the classroom and taking initiative at school and in the community.
Becoming an exemplary leader has been a quality that I continuously aspire for. Serving two years as Class Representative and one year as Student Body President taught me that leadership is not just a title, but a responsibility for action-driven results.
While serving as President, I successfully organized a Leadership Initiative Fundraiser, the theme of which was a silent auction of Boston Sports Memorabilia. I was able to procure several high value items, including a football autographed by Tom Brady and a framed jersey autographed by David Pastrnak, which helped raise $5,550 for Autism Speaks.
I continued utilizing my academic knowledge and passion for sports by co-founding the Sports Media Program at my high school. Through the program, the school was able to broadcast varsity sports games and player interviews and further engage in outreach through social media.
The process of establishing and having to maintain the Sports Media Program taught me the importance of identifying, planning and executing critical tasks effectively, both in, and out of the classroom.
As an intern at WGBH’s Executive Office, I was able to apply my experience from the Sports Media Program while gaining more practical knowledge in Digital Marketing, TV and Radio Production, and in Fundraising, during my involvement with the WGBH Island Cruise fundraiser event.
Developing good time-management skills and learning how to set long-term goals proved to be very important when I worked in customer support at Lumberlend Company and as a camp counselor at Star Camps. I was also able to play Varsity Soccer and Baseball during all four years of high school and help win three New England Prep School Championships, while managing the Varsity Hockey team in parallel.
More recently, I had the opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge of the financial market while I was a trading floor intern at the New York Stock Exchange. As a clerk for a Floor Specialist at Cuttone and Company, I was able to learn firsthand about the stock market, including market fluctuations, stock price evaluations, investment strategies and the unique dynamic between brokers and investors.
For as long as I can remember, my parents have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and passions and have stressed the importance of hard work and determination in doing so. Their words are something that I take to heart and will strive to live by throughout my college education and as I continue to pursue my career interests.
